SXSW 2014 Places to Eat and Party

In town for SXSW in Austin this year? Whether you’re new to the game, or back as a veteran, I’ve got a list of some old time favorite places to eat and shop, that have never let me down. Have fun, enjoy the weather, and EAT WELL! Follow me on Twitter @Breatheeatlive – and follow the places that I plan on visiting today, and other days I am able to make it to SXSW! Just a hint, I will be posting up photos of the places I hit up on my FIRST attendance to the SXSW Annual Food Crawl! Happy eating my fellow, blog family!

So, I’ve never been much of a participator in SXSW – an Interactive, Film, and Music festival in Austin, but this year, I decided that I should at least try it! Don’t get me wrong, but the idea of waiting in line for hours, to get access to an open bar, live music, and free networking…would have appealed to me five years ago. Now, I’d rather just pay for a ticket, to see my favorite artists perform. Having started my blog not too long ago, I need to put myself out there, so I have something to bring back to you guys! I don’t just do everything for me! In this post, I will include some helpful pointers to remember for SXSW locals and guests alike.

Highway options:

  • I-35
  • 183
  • MoPac
  • Loop 1
  • 360
  • FM 2222
  • 620
  • 71
  • 45

Transport Stations & Car Services

*I chose to leave cab services out of my recommendations, because I’ve never heard of anyone having a good experience with cabbies, as they may over charge, not accept credit cards (When they have a machine in their taxi), and some are terrible with directions…what help would that be to you?*

Capital Metro Bus

MetroRail Austin

Austin Awaits Charter

The weather has been up and down lately. Sometimes its hot, sometimes its cold, and sometimes it rains. Bring some shoes you may not mind getting dirty, and a jacket to keep you warm – Otherwise, dress to impress (You never know who may be watching), or chill out in your most casual wear.

Need a Place to Stay?

Try trustworthy websites like, Airbnb, and Home Away, Some Northern/Southern/Western hotels/resorts may still have space, but be prepared to cough up some cash, nothing comes cheap during events in Austin! If all else fails, try looking up these nearby cities: Waco, Leander, Georgetown, Round Rock, Pflugerville, San Marcos, Buda, Kyle, Kerrville, Wimberly..all about 25, 45 minutes away from Downtown Austin.

Eggrolls were Chinese style, with a lot of cabbage and sweet and sour sauce.

Ordered the ‘Tom’s Roll’ for dinner, simple and yummy!
